Qualcomm Ventures Backs 5G Startups

San Diego-based Qualcomm Ventures, the venture capital arm of Qualcomm, has made investments in four companies working on 5G technology and products. According to Qualcomm Ventures, it made strategic investments in Celona, Cellwize, Azion and Pensando. Size of the investments were note disclosed. Celona is developing software to automate deployment of cellular wireless technology by enterprise com

panies; Cellwize is developing an AI platform to help mobile network operators (MNOs) to automate the configuration, management and optimization of networks and services; Azion is working on technology to allow for the deployment of serverless, edge applications; and Pensado is developing distributed edge computing products.
