Google appoints European distie for Glass Enterprise

Google is taking on Microsoft’s HoloLens in helping to facilitate remote working with wearable mixed-reality tech

Tech Data has been named as the distributor of Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 in Europe.

Through the agreement, Tech Data resellers across the region will be able to access and build their own solutions with the wearable tech headset. Glass Enterprise Edition 2 was lau

nched in May as a re-vamped competitor to Microsoft’s HoloLens. Google say the mixed-reality device - which layers images over a wearer’s surroundings - is designed to enhance productivity and real-time communication for frontline remote-workers in multiple verticals. Tech Data Europe VP of mobility and consumer electronics solutions, Luc van Huystee, says the distributor will enable resellers to build bespoke software solutions for end-users. The device will be compatible with Tech Data’s Software Store platform for provisioning, licensing and renewals. “Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is a ground-breaking product that revolutionises the way that hands-on professionals can communicate, collaborate and learn in real time while carrying out their daily work,” he said. “We are really excited to further expand our assisted and virtual reality solutions portfolio and to help Google to launch this product into the European IT and telecommunication channels. “We look forward to helping our partners to build exciting and impactful solutions for their end customers.”
