ECS Group acquired by US consultancy firm
London-based services firm will retain brand and leadership under new ownership
London-headquartered ECS Group has been acquired by US consultancy firm GlobalLogic.
Founded twenty years ago in California, GlobalLogic has a workforce of 16,000 and specialises in “digital product engineering”. The acquisition of ECS Group is part of the US organisation’s European growth strategy and wi
ll add a host of complementary cloud-based offerings to its portfolio, particularly its AWS capabilities and competencies which includes being one of only three EMEA Amazon Connect Service Delivery Partners. The acquisition will also advance GlobalLogic’s footprint in the financial services sector. The group’s largest trading arm ECS Europe reported revenues of 38.4m for its year ending 31 December 2019. “We’re always in search of differentiated companies that enhance our capabilities and expand our reach,” stated Shashank Samant, president and CEO of GlobalLogic. “ECS’s expertise in complex cloud services, its strong position and presence in the UK, and the company’s heritage in regulated industries such as financial services are all valuable additions to GlobalLogic. We are very excited to have the talented ECS team on board to deliver outstanding digital outcomes for our clients.” ECS was founded 12 years ago and currently has a global headcount of over 650. Last year ECS Security was spun out fro the main group in an MBO and has since rebranded as Adarma. Details of the deal were not disclosed, but ECS will continue to operate with its existing leadership and staff as a wholly-owned subsidiary of GlobalLogic. “The demand for digital engineering and cloud services continues to grow at an accelerated pace,” saidECS CEO Mark Farrington. “Joining GlobalLogic is a game-changer for ECS. With access to a broader set of competencies and global scale, we can address a wider range of client opportunities. With its people-oriented culture, GlobalLogic is a fantastic match for ECS at every level. We are excited to embark on this journey together.” Kate Hanaghan, chief research officer at TechMarketView, commented that ECS gives GlobalLogic a strong foothold in the UK market. “We can see why GlobalLogic was attracted to ECS, which gives it a great entry point into the UK market,” she stated. “We suspect GlobalLogic was not the only interested buyer, but ECS would have been attracted to its capability around digital front-end transformation and capacity to enable its own global ambitions. It’s the start of a new chapter and we do not expect Farrington to take his foot off the pedal in terms of continuing the evolution of ECS.”
